Check this out!!!

Good evening crafty friends
Today I have been emailing a lovely lady who has bought a scan and cut and was having problems with it missing small areas when she was scanning in a design. She emailed brother and after a couple of days they responded with a solution, which I am pleased to say has worked.
Here is the solution in case you are having the same problem

You can specify the smallest object size to be converted on “Scan to Cut Data” function.
The objects smaller than this setting will be eliminated when converting, and the default values for this setting are 5mm.
This is explained in “Specifying “Delete Size”” section on P52 and P53 of operating manual.

Please change the value and it should find more areas within your scanned image.

I originally thought that this was useful for eliminating unwanted lines when you scanned in on a regular mat but now I really understand how valuable this can be.
Try it out!!!

Registration and updates

Good morning crafters
I have been asked through my blog about registering your machine and updates.
Below is the response from Brother UK.

The link to the registration page in the email below is for Brother in the USA.
In the UK we have no need to register product details in this way.
The product warranty can be tracked by proof of purchase and serial number.

Product updates are freely available via the Brother Solution centre pages and we will post details via our Face book & Twitter pages.
We will endeavour to share news and information with UK customers through our web site and social media.

John and I will also post any update info on our blogs.
Hope that helps.

Brother instruction Manual

Hi crafters
I have been asked if the manual for the Brother Scanncut is available on line rather than using the disc.....good question!
After a little investigation this is how I found it.
Log on to scanncut.co.uk
Click on support and service on the side bar
Click on solution centre
Then manuals
Operation manual
And download.

It works on my iPad so I am sure it should be ok on a laptop etc.

Hope this helps

P.S I have a couple of days to play this week so keep popping by to see if I have discovered anything new :) x Hee Hee Hee !

Welding Shapes

Good morning crafters
I have had a few email re welding on the BSC so I thought I would do a quick write up for you.

You have to bring the letters up one at a time. So go in to fonts and choose the first letter and set it on the screen. Then press add and go back and put you second letter on and the set and so on until you have got the word you want. Then go in to the edit box which is in the top left hand corner of the screen...it has a red square and a circle and triangle in it. One of the letters will be highlighted. You can then either use the stylus to move the letters or you can use the box that has the four arrows in it to move them. Move  the letters together so they overlap each other slightly. Then tap on the box that has three red squares in it  and tap the box with the three shapes in it. Press ok and then press weld which is to the left of the ok button the one without a red rectangle in it. It looks like a circle and a triangle welded together.
Note that if you have any other shapes on you mat that you are not welding together then it won't weld. So if for eg. You bring up a number seven and a boys name and you only want to weld the boys name then you have to remove the 7 and put it back after you have welded the name.
I hope that makes sense.

Have a great weekend

USB sticks

Hi crafters
A couple of people have contacted me about the list for compatible USB sticks for the Brother Scan and Cut. I have contacted Brother and they have sent me this link.http://download.brother.com/welcome/doch001175/scanncut_usb_r1309.pdf

They have informed me that there are probably many others that work but these are the one that they have tested.
Hope this helps

Hi crafters
Here is the link for the updates for your BSC when it arrives.

If customer use the brother solution centre and select Europe, then UK and "scan n cut", they will be shown the CM600DX model and all relevant items for that model.

It's important they use the correct region and country when looking for updates.

This is the information directly from Stuart at Brother UK.

I am doing this on my iPad so am keeping my fingers crossed that it works and you can see it.
I am also forwarding this to John so he can put it on a blog too.

Take care
Love and hugs
