Tomorrow nights pick of the day is Brother Scanncut at a great price.
Tune in at 9pm to find out more and see lots of demonstrations
Here is one 8f the new samples which I thought was quite appropriate for today.
Yes, very appropriate. And I love poppies too. I bought my SNC in Jan and absolutely love it. I use it virtually every time I craft now. Will still be watching to see what you've been making though Mel.
Hi Mel. I bought my Scan N Cut in April and love it, I recently used it to scan in a photo to save on USB stick but when the image was opened on the computer it wasn't very good quality and all a yellowy colour, is this normal? Regards
Hi Mel, love the poppy memory card - you did say (I hope while watching C&C) that the popy was free, could you tell me what company you used as I would love to make something very similar for our Church this November. Regards xx
Hi Mel, I emailed the show as I was having issues with my blade not cutting at the pressures and depths I had read about on blogs. I tried the depths and pressure settings you suggested but still no joy. I also tried the deep cut blade and that was ok. I have decided therefore its was probably a blade problem not a faulty machine. I managed to borrow a standard cut blade from a friend that she had been using in her machine that worked fine. I put the blade in my blade holder and into my machine and then tried the settings you had suggested and bingo it worked fine. So it is definitely a blade issue rather than a faulty machine or indeed a user error which I was beginning to think it might be. Will Brother replace the blade as I have only used it half a dozen times and only on normal cardstock? I only got my machine on Saturday. Many thanks Louise x
Hi Louise I haven't had a signal at the hotel I have been staying at but I did send you a reply on the 7th if. August asking for your address to send the new blade to. I have just re- sent it. X
I know you probably wouldn't recommend putting my address on here but I don't see the harm with giving you my email again in case you have written it down wrong. Its benfield459@btinternet.com Louise x
Hi Mel, love watching you on CNC you always make things look so easy and your recomendation of the scanncut made me invest in one.I'm also having the same issues as Louise but i'll try your suggestion and see how it goes but i'm also having trouble downloading on to my USB stick.I bought one that was reccomended but it says acrobat can't access the file and when i plug it into my machine no images are found.Like you i'm not tech savvy so could you give me some much needed advice because i have loads of ideas and no way of executing them and i'm getting really frustrated. Hope you can help Sue x
Hi Sue I would like you to contactinfo@scanncut.eu. They should be able to help but please let me know how you get on. Also let me know about your blade.xx
Hi Mel, Just to let you know i resolved the problem with the USB stick Hooray,as for the blade i tried your suggestion of using the deep cut blade and from that that it does appear to be a blade issue so i'll contact brother to try and resolve it.In the mean time i will still use the blade but use my own settings for different card stock. Thanks for your help and replying to my email, hope to see you soon what ever programm your fronting you make crafting fun.xx
Hi Mel, Don't know if you remember me but you advised me on some problems I was having with my snc machine. In the end it was sent to brother in Germany. They received it into their department on the 30th July. Originally they told me via email that they would have it a couple of days. I have attempted to contact them 4 times by email with no response. Is there any way I can get them to contact me. They have had the machine well over 2 weeks now and I am getting a bit worried about it especially with no replies forthcoming. They were very good at the beginning, arranging a courier and acknowledging receipt of the machine when I emailed and asked them if they had received it. Thanks for any help or advice Pauline norbury
Hi Pauline I have sent this comment to Brother in the UK. Can you email me at Melanieheaton@netscape.net with your email address so I can pass that on too.x
Chatted with you at Summer Crafting - and decided to buy this awesome machine..within two minutes I had cut four basic shapes - it is so easy to use - tons quicker to navigate around than my Cricut.. so much to explore - don't know where to start!!..thanks for your advice Mel.......x
Hi Mel I bought my SNC on the pick of the day show and love it for my fabric crafting, I loved the rose pattern you cut in Doflex which you said was a free one, can you tell me where I can get that design from please
Hello Mel, lovely poppies. I watched your recent scrapbooking programmes on C&C and noted that you mentioned having a small photo printer that you took with you on your travels. I have a traditional Epson printer which is okay but I'm considering getting a smaller one just for printing photos. I would be grateful if you would give me some information on your printer as an online search hasn't helped. Thanks, Elizabeth x
Hi Mel Loved watching you on CC and bought the Brother Scan'n'cut there and then. It arrived today and have just spent 3 hours trying to download that Circus you had from Kate Cuttables. All to no avail, it just tells me that "this file type can't be used". Am I doing something wrong? Please help xx Thanks Diane
I have downloaded some SVG files that I liked from different sites to my computer ( including the Fun at the Circus one). I open my SCAN N CUT CANVAS and get to where you select the file. I put in one of the svg files and it puts the name of the file in the box to the right. When I click OK, it says THIS FILE CAN NOT BE USED. I have NOT gotten one of the svg files to convert to the FCM file to put on my USB flash drive to use in the scan n cut. please help.......THANKS Diane
Hi. Diane Can you email me directly please on melanieheaton@netscape.net I think I need to arrange a phone call with you so we can go from start to finish and I can use the same file as you. Hope that ok Melanie x
Hi Mel, I have bought the brother scan n cut and I have a question for you. When you do a direct cut you can add a border from 1mm upwards. When I want to cut to data I do not seem to have this option to add this cutting border. I can enlarge once it is retrieved but with a flourish type shape the proportions don't work correctly if I then want to over stamp the cut out image afterwards. Is there a way to add this border to a scan to data image before it is saved. Good luck understanding this question!
Thanks for your reply. I have not played with scan cut canvas yet. Are there any good tutorials for this? I think this may be the key that I am missing!
Hi Mel - Wonder if you can help at all - I've been having problems with my Scan N Cut machine and have hit a brick wall - would it be better if I sent you a private e-mail as this could take some time!!!! If not - I'll be happy to share on here. Thanks Jennifer
Hi Mel, How are you all in blackburn? Just being nosey to see whot you all got upto in the october retreats? I hope you all had a fab time with loads of dots & dashes ha ha. Much love & hugs sheila
Hi You go in to canvas and find the drop down box that includes properties. You can then choose which lines you want and set it to either cut it or draw it. Hugs Melanie x
Hi Mel - recently acquired a scan 'n' cut, just before sitting in on one of your workshops at the NEC. I've watched all your C&C presentations, which encouraged me to get the S 'n' C. However, I'm having REAL problems with : 1) no card or paper of any weight will stick to the mat, so I have to sellotape it down all round; 2) I've tried pressure 0 and 1 (but a bit frightened to go higher), with needle depth between 3 and 9 - results vary, between not cutting thru, even the lightest weight card, to ripping it to shreds as it cuts. I have made a couple of things, but I have to hold the paper in place on the mat with my fingers. Hence, I am wasting a lot of good card stock. the thickest card I've used is super smooth. Please can you advise me?
Hi Anni Can you contact me directly please at melanieheaton@netscape.net. I think I need to call you to see what we can do to solve this issue. Thanks Melanie xxx
Hi Mel, I have die cut a tattered lace die from black card & scanned it into my scan n cut & although I have altered the settings down to 1mm using the "delete size" option it still isn't recognising some of the intricate detail. Is there anything else I can do ? In addition to this, now that I have the shape saved, when I retrieve it I cannot reduce the overall size - I can only make it bigger. Is there a way to make it smaller ? Best regards
HI Melanie, re my note of 29th Nov...I have cracked it by trying a new mat which is fine and cutting normally. My pressure is back to 0 which I guess is good. So it is the original mat that's the problem, I'm wondering if I can get a replacement?
Hi Mel. Lovely poppies! I will be watching, in need of inspiration at the mo. May even see you Sunday. SueL x
ReplyDeleteYes, very appropriate. And I love poppies too. I bought my SNC in Jan and absolutely love it. I use it virtually every time I craft now. Will still be watching to see what you've been making though Mel.

DeleteYes, on some shapes you can add a seam allowance or you can add an outside line in scanncut canvas.xxx
