  1. Hi Mel, I followed your instructions on the TV to make the Easter Box, I recorded it so was able to rewind and replay, managed it no problemt and it is great, as you said once you get going it is not a complicated as it looks. A little tip, I do not know if you do this or not, but just in case you don’t, after stitching the elastic band in I then went over the stitching inside and out with a little pinflare gel to keep it from splitting the card, hope this helps someone. Thank you so much for your terrific inspiration and your patience.

  11. Hi Mel,
When you are on C&C you always say you will email people who need help, well I think I am one of them. I have bought a cricut expression 2 and I have unpacked it, but don't seem able to find my way around it, do you think you would be able to do a workshop here in the south west?? I see all the lovely cards you make and they are fantastic, I would love to make cards like you.......

  12. Beautiful as always Melanie. I have a favour to ask of you. I watched all your shows on C & C last week. I watched you showing the Centre Point feature on the Create. I used this feature when I has my original Cricut Expression, but, cannot seem to get it right with the Expression 2!Can you steer me through using the centre point feature on my machine please? Thank you
    Linda

  14. Hi Mel, knowing how you were investigating cutting fabric with a cricut - take a look at this blog - it's exactly the kind of thing I want to do http://thunderbirdlindybydesign.blogspot.com/2012/02/ive-finally-got-it-done.html

  15. Hi what "sticky" stuff do I use to get negative of a shape off the cricut mat, and where can I buy it from? Thanks

  16. Another one, I been watching a recorded programme on Create n Craft. Features Damask Decor and you showed that it will cut a card with a score line down it. Can I do that on other cartridges or is it just this one? At the moment I cut the shapes as large as I can and create a paper hinge to keep it together which does not look so good. Thanks

  19. Hi Stephanie
I don't have any plans to do workshops down south :( The top tip on the 2 is to sit down with the instruction book and learn the icons on page 3. This is what I did. Also if you look on the C & C website there should be a short tutorial on the E2.
If you have any specific questions please email me again.

  21. Hi Tina

My advice is DON'T BE SCARED. Put your speed on five. Then put a piece of card on your mat. Press load mat.
Set your pressuare to four and your blade depth to four and press cut. Press unload mat. If the shape has cut through cleanly then thats great. if not then increase you pressure to five. Press load last. Press repeat last and cut. Press unload mat. If it still hasn't cut through cleanly then increase your blade depth to five. Continue this process until you find the correct settings for your card.
Then I would suggest you choose a shape and press cut. Then press on of the six feature buttons on the top left hand side of your KEYPAD. Press the feature button and then your chosen shape and then cut. Work your way through the features using the same shape and just get used to the machine. You cannot break it and if it cannot do something it will tell you so.
Trust me and just have a play
Let me know how you get on.
    Take care

  23. Help!!!!
I've never blogged before, so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place. I have a Cricut Expression machine, which I bought from C&C about 6 months ago (so fairly new) and have several brand new cartridges, all of which work except one - Elegant Edges. The egg timer on the display screen is continually on and I am unable to cut anything with it. The place I bought if from said that I need to update the software on my Cricut machine. Is this true, with it being so new and me not having any problems with other cartridges? If it is true, how do you do it please. Many thanks for your time. Tracey

  24. Hi Tracey
Can you tell me which expression you have. If it is the original expression, go into settings and then use the right arrow to move to the screen that says Display or Don't dispaly and press the plus button so it goes to Don't display. Then press settings to exit the screen and try cutting something. It may just be that it can't dispaly the image on the screen.
Let me know if that works.

  25. Hi Heidi
This is a feature of this cartridge. Any cartridges that has a CARD feature will do this. Check them out on the craftroom.

  26. I just use a low tack masking tape and cover the area I want to pick up. You may want to stick it to your jumper as well though as sometimes it is still a little too sticky.

  27. Hi Melanie,
Wonder if you can help me. Loaded ‘Sophisticated’ cartridge successfully onto Gypsy. Then checked for updates and both boxes had ‘x’, so I accepted both and waited. The first one did fine, I think, but the firmware gets as far as downloading ok, then when installing it on the Gypsy this appears near the end:

An error occurred: Failed to send upgrade file. (That’s the firmware one)

It then spends ages trying Attempting Gypsy Synchronization. Never does it.

Can’t switch off the Gypsy, ‘connected’ remains on screen so I can’t get anywhere else.

Don’t know how I got to it, but apparently ‘Bridge.exe has stopped working’.

HELP! I did try via the Gypsy help button but that all comes up onscreen with something lengthy about an error.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Susan

  28. Hi Melanie, Have just successfully managed to get me Gypsy working again. T'other evening couldn't switch it off as the connected screen remained on. So I unplugged everything on it, ran off in a tid and waited a day for the battery to run out. This morning tried again and yay! Success. Everything updated and it's working ticketyboo again. Am extremely relieved. So if anyone has the same problem with their Gypsy - now they know what to do :) Sorry for troubling you. Love all the samples by the way (I can focus on creations now lol) TTFN, Susan

  32. Hi Susan, please try uninstalling the sync and then remove your firewall and anti virus. Re download the sync and then try the Gypsy again.

  34. Hi Melanie, Thanks for your reply. However, I wasn't able to try it out as a few days ago I let the battery run out completely. Plugged it in again, once my tid subsided haha and it worked fine. If the same problem ever happens again, I'll try your method. Thanks again :) Susan
