  2. Pretty card Mel. Are you sure it isn't 7 pm, on Ideal World? That's what my TV guide is saying, if you are demo-ing the scan n cut.

  4. Well done Mel - I'm guessing you must have cracked using the online software. I'm impressed! misskatecuttables also does a freebie SVG everyday which is worth getting as you never know when you might need it. Still loving my SNC. Will be watching tonight.

  5. Hi Mel
Just wondered if you had any ideas about a problem I'm having with my snc. Every time I try to cut something, usually 240ish gsm from papermill direct, it doesn't cut right through and always pulls my card so it tears instead of cuts. I have tried all sorts of different settings on the blade length, the pressure etc but the problem still occurs. My snc is about 6 weeks old.
    Thanks
    Pauline

  6. Hi Pauline
I want you to put your card on the standard mat and press it down well with the back of the spatula. Then put you speed on full, your pressure on 2 and your blade depth on 4. Come back to me with your results at melanieheaton@netscape.net please. Also make sure your blade hasn't picked up any stray bits of card inside its housing.xxx

  10. Hi Liz
I typed in to google USB compatibility for brother scanncut and it came up. I can't work out how to copy and paste it on my iPad though. Try it and see if it works for you.x

  11. Hi Mel, i want to do my own designs for the scan n cut can you please tell me what software i need to be using so i can make my own designs. Thanks Angie

  12. Hi. Angie
You can either draw it and scan it in or you can use the scanncut canvas. You can also design in Serif and then convert your design in canvas to the correct file format.x

  13. Hi Mel - loved all your shows with the Scan N Cut - I've recorded them so I can go back and watch again. One wee question - I've only been using my machine for 4 weeks and it is ripping and snagging my card - could I need a new blade already? Bit disappointed if I do. I had my Cricut machine 8 years and never changed the blade once in all that time :(
    Thanks Jennifer x

    1. Hi Jennifer
What speed pressure and blade depth are you working with?x

  14. Hi Mel, I was using lightweight bazzil card, standard blade depth 5, speed on 5 and pressure 0. I used it the previous day with same settings and it cut beautifully so not sure what wee gremlins visited overnight! Thanks for replying, Jennifer x

  16. Hi Jennifer
Can you check to see if any bits of stray card have got in side your blade holder please and get back to me.x

  17. Hi Mel. Yeah, already checked that, totally unscrewed the blade , gave it a good blow and tap. Even tried the deep cut blade on depth number 1 but it wouldn't cut right through card and snagged and ripped the card stock . even on a very basic shape, I had to "help" the shape out with a craft knife. Thanks again, Jennifer x

  18. Try your blade depth on 5 and your pressure on 2 and see if that works.x

  19. Hi Mel - yes - tried the above settings - still the same result - not cutting right through cardstock and snagging etc. I have since been in touch with Brother Scan n Cut technical support and sent them photos of my blades and the mess of the card. They have agreed to have a look at it for me so are sending a courier out to pick it up. Thank you so much for your help. I'm just a wee bit down about it as what I had cut with it up to the point of it not working was wonderful, I was really enjoying creating little masterpieces with it!!! I shall keep you informed of how I get on. Thanks again for your kindness and support. Jennifer x x

  20. hi mel

have don't some very good cutting with snc machine but ....the mats are very disappointing they don't hold card very well and then used stick and spray as advised and card sticks that much that I will have to wet it to get it off ....criucut mats are a lot better

  21. Linda - I had same problem with my mats but just washed them with a little bit of washing up liquid and a soft brush and hey presto - good as new - seriously - give it a go. Hope this helps Jen x x

  22. Hi Linda
Make sure you press the card on to the mat with the back of your spatula. I used the same mat for every show when we did the POTD and it sticks much better if you do that.xxx
