  2. Yes, very appropriate. And I love poppies too. I bought my SNC in Jan and absolutely love it. I use it virtually every time I craft now. Will still be watching to see what you've been making though Mel.

  3. Hi Mel.
I bought my Scan N Cut in April and love it, I recently used it to scan in a photo to save on USB stick but when the image was opened on the computer it wasn't very good quality and all a yellowy colour, is this normal?

  4. Hi Mel, love the poppy memory card - you did say (I hope while watching C&C) that the popy was free, could you tell me what company you used as I would love to make something very similar for our Church this November.

  5. Hi Mel, I emailed the show as I was having issues with my blade not cutting at the pressures and depths I had read about on blogs. I tried the depths and pressure settings you suggested but still no joy. I also tried the deep cut blade and that was ok. I have decided therefore its was probably a blade problem not a faulty machine. I managed to borrow a standard cut blade from a friend that she had been using in her machine that worked fine. I put the blade in my blade holder and into my machine and then tried the settings you had suggested and bingo it worked fine. So it is definitely a blade issue rather than a faulty machine or indeed a user error which I was beginning to think it might be. Will Brother replace the blade as I have only used it half a dozen times and only on normal cardstock? I only got my machine on Saturday.
    Many thanks

Thanks for your help and replying to my email, hope to see you soon what ever programm your fronting you make crafting fun.xx

  9. Hi Mel,
Don't know if you remember me but you advised me on some problems I was having with my snc machine. In the end it was sent to brother in Germany. They received it into their department on the 30th July. Originally they told me via email that they would have it a couple of days. I have attempted to contact them 4 times by email with no response.
Is there any way I can get them to contact me. They have had the machine well over 2 weeks now and I am getting a bit worried about it especially with no replies forthcoming. They were very good at the beginning, arranging a courier and acknowledging receipt of the machine when I emailed and asked them if they had received it.
Thanks for any help or advice

  13. Hello Mel, lovely poppies. I watched your recent scrapbooking programmes on C&C and noted that you mentioned having a small photo printer that you took with you on your travels. I have a traditional Epson printer which is okay but I'm considering getting a smaller one just for printing photos. I would be grateful if you would give me some information on your printer as an online search hasn't helped. Thanks, Elizabeth x

Loved watching you on CC and bought the Brother Scan'n'cut there and then. It arrived today and have just spent 3 hours trying to download that Circus you had from Kate Cuttables. All to no avail, it just tells me that "this file type can't be used". Am I doing something wrong? Please help xx Thanks Diane

    2. I have downloaded some SVG files that I liked from different sites to my computer ( including the Fun at the Circus one). I open my SCAN N CUT CANVAS and get to where you select the file. I put in one of the svg files and it puts the name of the file in the box to the right. When I click OK, it says THIS FILE CAN NOT BE USED. I have NOT gotten one of the svg files to convert to the FCM file to put on my USB flash drive to use in the scan n cut. please help.......THANKS

  16. Hi Mel, I have bought the brother scan n cut and I have a question for you. When you do a direct cut you can add a border from 1mm upwards. When I want to cut to data I do not seem to have this option to add this cutting border. I can enlarge once it is retrieved but with a flourish type shape the proportions don't work correctly if I then want to over stamp the cut out image afterwards. Is there a way to add this border to a scan to data image before it is saved. Good luck understanding this question!

    1. Hi Laura
Yes, on some shapes you can add a seam allowance or you can add an outside line in scanncut canvas.xxx

  21. Hi Mel, Can you tell me how to get the perforation cutting file that you mention on C&C. thanks

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi
You go in to canvas and find the drop down box that includes properties. You can then choose which lines you want and set it to either cut it or draw it.

  23. Hi Mel - recently acquired a scan 'n' cut, just before sitting in on one of your workshops at the NEC. I've watched all your C&C presentations, which encouraged me to get the S 'n' C. However, I'm having REAL problems with : 1) no card or paper of any weight will stick to the mat, so I have to sellotape it down all round; 2) I've tried pressure 0 and 1 (but a bit frightened to go higher), with needle depth between 3 and 9 - results vary, between not cutting thru, even the lightest weight card, to ripping it to shreds as it cuts. I have made a couple of things, but I have to hold the paper in place on the mat with my fingers. Hence, I am wasting a lot of good card stock. the thickest card I've used is super smooth. Please can you advise me?

  26. Hi Mel, I have die cut a tattered lace die from black card & scanned it into my scan n cut & although I have altered the settings down to 1mm using the "delete size" option it still isn't recognising some of the intricate detail. Is there anything else I can do ? In addition to this, now that I have the shape saved, when I retrieve it I cannot reduce the overall size - I can only make it bigger. Is there a way to make it smaller ? Best regards

  27. HI Melanie, re my note of 29th Nov...I have cracked it by trying a new mat which is fine and cutting normally. My pressure is back to 0 which I guess is good. So it is the original mat that's the problem, I'm wondering if I can get a replacement?

    Regards Anni (Shearer)
