Pictures of This Years Christmas Project

  1. Mel these are gorgeous. Love the colours you have used.

I have just finished a very difficult scrapbook of a week-end away May 2011 - little did we know she'd be dead a few weeks later from a massive bleed in the brain aged 61 - but I thought it important to do a scrapbook for me and also for our friend who went with us. It's taken a long time but the hardest bit over the last few months has been the journalling. I had planned to do it on the computer and stick in but all I kept hearing was you voice in my head saying you must write things even if you don't like your handwriting - so that's what I did!!! I wish you could see it as I'd NEVER have attempted it without seeing your shows. It's nothing like your pages you do but I am really pleased with it and thank you so much for all your tips and ideas on the shows. Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas and New Year and all the very best for 2013. Kym xxx

    1. Hi Kymm
You just made me cry! I am so pleased you managed to make it. I know it is very difficult to journal when you have lost somebody you love but I am so proud of you for doing it. This is the reason I am so passionate about creating memory albums.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas safe in the knowledge that your dear friend is watching over you and smiling,
      Take care
      Lots of love and hugs

    2. Firstly I must say that I'm sorry about the loss of your friend.
Secondly I must say what a positive, inspiring comment that was. I don't scrapbook anywhere near as much as I want to, despite keeping momentos and photos of anywhere I go. I'm just too slow but the only way to get quicker, is to create pages but there's always other crafting which 'gets in the way', so to speak.
Your comment has helped reinforce the idea that there's never any better time than now.
So 'now' I'm going to do a page, which will be for January's page on 2013's calendar.
      Take care and keep scrapping!
Happy Christmas to you too of course Melanie! xx

  2. Mel, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sorry I made you cry!! I didn't word my post properly - it was my mum that died so you can imagine it was a very difficult thing to do. I am pleased I did it though and I didn't do just one but did another scrapbook virtually the same for our friend (she was actually the person who found mum collapsed at home and has helped our family enormously though a very difficult 18 months).

I have made the decision to post my scrapbook on my blog on Christmas day as a tribute to my mum and to also encourage others to scrapbook even though at times it can be very difficult. My friend will be given her scrapbook on Christmas day so fingers crossed she likes it.

Next time you are on Create and Craft doing a scrapbook show please think that YOU gave me the confidence to make a very difficult scrapbook and I even did as I was told about the journalling so it proves I listened!!!

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year. With all my very best wishes

    1. Hi Kym
That is a lovely thing to do. I am sure your Mum will be very proud of you. It is lovely of you to share your story and your pages. I am really pleased you chose to make your album. I don't know about you but I find it very therapeutic, even though it is difficult.
I found some lovely ornaments this year in next. They are angels wings in the shape of a heart to go on the tree. I have put two on for my Mum and Dad as this is my first Christmas without the two of them. I will light a tea light for them both on Christmas morning and then set about making Christmas a happy time again as that is what they would have wanted.
If you ever need any help with your scrapbooking then please don't hesitate to contact me. I will look at your pages on Christmas Day and feel very proud too. Give your friend a box of tissues and some chocolate to go along with her album and give her a big hug from me.
You take care and make Christmas as happy as you can.
Lots of love and big hugs
